Ensure all communities have access to clean water

The COVID-19 pandemic is showing exactly how essential our clean water supplies are for personal and community health. During this time, we must adhere to basic hygiene practices, like regular handwashing and cleaning and disinfecting of surfaces in the home and workplace, to protect ourselves and others from contracting the virus. This is impossible if the water has been turned off.

Congress must act to ban involuntary shutoffs of drinking water supplies across the nation for the duration of the COVID-19 public health emergency. Our utility operators have stayed on the job to ensure that drinking water and wastewater reclamation plants are working to provide clean water to our communities and our rivers. But there are many households who have had their water shutoff by a public utility. Our most vulnerable populations are almost always disproportionately impacted, with often limited access to clean, safe and affordable water.

Please stand with us as we tell Congress to turn the water back on for the length of this pandemic, so everyone in the country has access to clean water and a healthy household.
