We want to hear from you

American Rivers is seeking to conduct a formal feasiblity study evaluating the full removal of the Dock Street Dam on the Susqeuhanna River in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania.

Dock Street Dam is classified as a lowhead dam and has been a persistent and predictable public safety hazard since it was constructed in 1913. The dam no longer serves its original purpose of creating a recreational pool and mitigating early 20th-century concerns such as odor and mosquito control. The dam also provides no meaningful modern needs such as flood control or power generation.

At this time, we are accepting community comments on your personal experience with Dock Street Dam and surrounding areas. We welcome comments ansewring the following:

  1. Are you aware of Dock Street Dam?
  2. Do you know the history of Dock Street Dam?
  3. How do you feel about Dock Street Dam in your community?
