Milestone Reached in Wild and Scenic Designations
Two years ago, American Rivers launched the 40 x 40 campaign to get 40 rivers designated in celebration of the 40th Anniversary of the Wild and Scenic Rivers Act. Last week, the Senate moved to protect more Wild and Scenic Rivers, safeguarding more than 270,000 acres along 1,000 miles of 82 rivers in seven states. The legislation, which is expected to pass the House and be signed into law by President Obama, will help us meet -- and greatly exceed -- our original goal. More
