Fighting sewage pollution

Toddler wading in streamEvery year, more than 850 billion gallons of raw or partially-treated sewage is dumped into the waters where we fish, swim and play. Astonishingly, there is no nationwide requirement for public notification of sewage spills and overflows -- placing you at risk of coming in contact with disease-causing pathogens.

To raise awareness about the issue, the Act for Healthy Rivers Slog (sewage + blog = slog) features stories from activists fighting sewage pollution in their communities and weekly recaps of sewage spills from across the nation. Read the Slog at www.healthyrivers.org/slog
