Keep the Colorado River Flowing

The Colorado River basin provides a critical lifeline to seven states in the West | Pete McBride

We need to put the Colorado River on a path to recovery and adapt the region's water needs in the face of climate change. Ask Congress to support funding of critical programs that address water supply sustainability in the Colorado River Basin.

The Colorado River is the lifeline of the Southwest, and is truly the economic foundation of a significant portion of the western United States. Thirty-six million people rely on the river for drinking water. It irrigates nearly 4 million acres of land, which grows 15% of the nation’s crops. Millions of tourists flock to the banks of the river and its tributaries each year for boating, fishing, birding, hunting, and hiking, which adds up to a $26 billion recreation economy.

We need to put the Colorado River on a path to recovery and adapt the region’s water needs in the face of climate change.

Take Action!

Ask Congress to support funding of critical programs that address sustainable water supply in the Colorado River Basin and across the West.
