Colorado's White River is More than Just Oil & Gas
Northwest Colorado’s White River is in an amazing landscape that includes spectacular canyon country bordering Dinosaur National Monument, brilliant wildlands providing solitude and recreational opportunities, and a beautiful river valley teeming with wildlife. Throughout it all, the White River is the main artery, providing the lifeblood to not just the landscape, but also to the people who rely on it for their livelihoods and quality of life. But all of that is at risk because it is in the crosshairs of the oil and gas industry.
The Bureau of Land Management is proposing 15,000 new oil and gas wells for the area. If the plan were allowed to move forward, it would put the region’s air, water, wildlife, and wild places at risk of becoming an industrialized disaster. To protect the White River, we need BLM to enact conservation measures that will address this onslaught of development.
The White River is important for more than just oil and gas. Ask Secretary Jewell to protect the White River, Colorado, from irresponsible energy development.
